    Over fifty miles of the border wall exist in South Texas but they may not function the way you think they do. Because you can't build a wall in a river, it is constructed North of the floodplain, sometimes up to two miles from the actual border. The wall is designed to be permeable, with regular gaps which allow for residents and farmworkers to access the private land and public parks that are located below. Each these photos was taken South of the border wall, but still in Texas.
